​​​​​​​​​​The adoption of healthy habits in our day-to-day lives, regular check-ups, a balanced diet and physical activities are critical attitudes to maintain the balance of body and mind. But the lack of time and the stress of our daily routines often hinders the practice these habits on a regular basis. In the World Health Day, commemorated this April 7, we listed 10 steps that you should follow to prevent diseases in search of a robust health.



1. HYGIENE

Numerous contagious and dangerous diseases may be avoided by keeping a good personal hygiene. Some ailments are directly related to the improper cleaning and care of our own body. Thus, wash your hands frequently, keep your nails cut and don't touch your mouth, nose and eyes with your hands. 


2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The practice of regular physical activities avoids problems such as diabetes, cholesterol, obesity, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. In addition, physical activities are key allied for the good functioning of the heart, improving the blood flow and reducing the chances of heart attack. They also contribute for the musculature activation, strengthening all muscles and developing the balance and physical endurance of practitioners.

3. KEEP A HEALTHY DIET



A healthy diet  is critical and imperative for those who want to learn how to prevent diseases. It is through food that we offer the body the nutrients it needs to keep its functions in balance.

It is very important to include in your diet more vegetables, fruits, grains, whole meal products and oilseeds. These food groups are rich in substances that help in nurturing cells and tissues, in addition to strengthening the immune system. This helps to prevent, for instance, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, anemia, among others., 


4. GOOD SLEEP

When we are asleep, our body performs many functions that are essential to keep its balance and health. During the night, human body remains partially active. Many chemical reactions occur in this period, which assist the nutrient absorption and the elimination of harmful substances. In addition, hormones that regulate organic functions are also released.




5. REGULAR CHECK-UPS

Routine check-ups are extremely important, because they help to identify when we are walking towards a disease and when our body needs some reinforcement so that it does not occur.  So, they are key to prevent health disorders.


6. GET VACCINATION CORRECTLY

Keep your vaccination booklet updated. In addition to those recommended during childhood, you should not forget the reinforcements throughout your life. 


7. KEEP YOUR BODY HIDRATED

Drink plenty of water and natural juices. This habit is essential to keep your metabolism running at full speed.  Dry mucous membranes are the main entry point for viruses that cause flu and colds. So, keep yourself hydrated!


8. BE OPTMISTIC

We are points of vibration emitting energy: if we are negative, we will attract the same kind of waves. With that, the probability of getting sick is very high. 



9. SMILE

Research shows that the substances produced when we smile strengthen the immune system, and also  relax the whole body. 



10. EXPRESS YOUR EMOTIONS

Do not keep everything to yourself.  Express your feelings. Talk to someone, practice some form of art, visit a psychologist or simply meditate to achieve inner peace. Also try to keep optimistic thoughts so that you may feel more secure and confident about yourself and your life.
