Refrain the progress of climate change is one of the biggest company's challenges. As part of its corporate strategy, Neoenergia embedded the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - a set of global goals established by the United Nations (U.N.) - into is projects and solutions for promoting initiatives aimed at meeting the present needs without jeopardizing future generations.
Among the 17 U.N. goals, Neoenergia prioritizes the meeting of SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Change) and directly contributes on a daily basis to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
COMMITMENT WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

As a SDG supporter, Neoenergia increasingly invests in a business model that replaces polluting sources with clean energies. Currently, 90% of power generation, produced by the company is derived from clean and renewable sources, through seven hydro power plants and 44 wind farms (17 operational and 27 under construction).
The performance of hydro power generators is run so that resources captured in the rivers for the moving of the machinery fully returns to the system, with no change in quality or volume.
The entire working process at the plants is carried out in such a way to enable the control of any potential impact to the environment. In the construction stage, field campaigns are performed, including the preparation of monitoring reports, aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the environmental controls used and the progress of the activities.
With that, Neoenergia strengthens its commitment by adhering to a sustainable use of the natural resources and operates with efficiency in the production and use of energy, in the reduction of emissions, biodiversity protection and in the waste and water management.
