The solemnity was attended by the CEO, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, and other executives of the company.

"We are sure that our trajectory in Brazil has been built with a solid financial discipline, investments in innovation and technologies of the future, which contribute to the acceleration of digital transformation in the electricity sector in Brazil.  The negotiation of our shares in Latibex reinforces the commitment to a sustainable and transparent management, guided by the generation of value to all shareholders", says Mario Ruiz-Tagle, CEO of Neoenergia.

Neoenergia made its initial offer of shares in Brazil in 2019 and, at the time, was considered the largest in the energy sector in the last 15 years. Since the IPO (follow in English to Initial Public Offering), it is part of the Novo Mercado of B3, the highest level of corporate governance of the corporations listed on the Brazilian stock exchange. The Spanish group Iberdrola remains a controlling shareholder, with a 53.50% shareholding.    Currently, Neoenergia is the second largest energy distribution company in Brazil and is committed to the demand for efficient and sustainable energy supply in an integrated way.

With solid results, the company has been an important player for Iberdrola in recent times. The company recorded a profit of R$ 1.2 billion, an increase of 20% over the first three months of 2021.

Sustainable management

Neoenergia continues to focus on the energy transition through the decarbonization of the economy. Today, the execution of projects with renewable sources is a reality with the construction of wind and solar farms, which expand the generation of clean energy in the country. Committed to the sustainable development of the Brazilian regions where it operates, the company maintains responsible practices of ASG (acronym for environmental, social and governance), adding value to society, shareholders and all stakeholders.

In addition, it acts to improve gender equity among its employees and, for this reason, signed the declaration of support for the Principles of Women's Empowerment (WEPs), an initiative promoted by UN Women and the Global Compact. By 2030, it intends to expand the presence of women in leadership positions and activities related to the operation.

Keeping an eye on the future

By the end of 2022, the company will have more than 90% of its installed capacity in renewable sources, and remains attentive to new opportunities, including innovative technologies such as offshore wind and green hydrogen. Through the commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), it aims to reduce the intensity of CO² emissions by up to 50% by 2030, having as its base year 2007.

The growth strategy is also aligned with the need to anticipate the demands of the future. The modernization and change in the profile of customers in the electricity sector have accelerated the transformations, efficiency gains and development of new products and services. These are changes in the market that require companies' actions to adapt to the new business model. Therefore, Neoenergia invests in innovation and technology, prioritizing quality, expansion, digitization of networks and consumer experiences. Faced with the imminent liberalization of the market, the company adopted actions that reinforce the commitment to ensure the supply of clean, affordable and quality energy to Brazilians.

Business resilience

The solid results recorded over these 25 years show that Neoenergia's strategy is in line with Iberdrola, one of the world's leading groups of electricity. All business consistency is built on the organic expansion of distributors, the pipeline of renewable enterprises, transmission lines that guarantee the supply of clean energy in an integrated way to the country and, mainly, financial efficiency.
