Throughout the month of May, Neoenergia promotes awareness-raising actions in concession areas and is present in the Yellow May movement, an initiative to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the country. In addition to advising drivers regarding safety behind the wheel, the campaign warns about events involving lamp posts. This is because the reconstruction of the electrical grid is a complex service that requires time and interferes with the energy supply.

Depending on the severity of the accident, electricians must also wait for police forensics to be able to begin work on the electrical grid. It is worth mentioning that those responsible for the accidents must bear the damage caused to the dealership's assets, including damage to poles, wires, and other equipment. For Neoenergia, prevention measures are necessary to influence drivers to be more cautious

when driving.

Occurrences

In January and April of this year, Neoenergia Elektro registered 418 accidents involving electrical system poles in the 228 cities served by the utility in the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Due to this type of accident, 67,000 customers had their energy supply disrupted during the period

.

The main safety guideline in this type of accident is that, if cables are broken and fall to the ground, it is important that people remain inside the vehicle, without touching the metal parts, until serviced by the dealership teams,” says Guilherme Mafra, manager health and safety at Neoenergia Elektro.

In the Federal District, Neoenergia Brasília teams carried out more than 1,000 educational blitzes, with safety guidelines for drivers. Professionals from the distribution company were also at schools in the federal capital to talk about the importance of defensive driving and the problems caused by the electrical grid in the event of accidents.

In 2023, Neoenergia Pernambuco registered about 1,000 structures damaged by vehicle collisions in the state. From January to April last year, approximately 335 structures were targeted by cars, buses, or trucks. From September to December, nearly 420 poles were hit for the same reason, an average of 3.5 per day.
