Around
12 thousand families living in the states of Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande
do Norte were granted with discounts in their energy bill by exchanging solid
waste in Vale Luz Project. Developed by the Energy Efficiency Program of Neoenergia's group distributors (Coelba, Celpe and Cosern) and regulated by Aneel, this project is a great alternative for increasing the family budget and encourage the sustainable cycle within the society.
Operating in 129 communities, this project has fixed and itinerant collection points, where customers may exchange recycled materials for the credit of discounts in their energy bills. In 2019 alone, more than 990 tons of materials were delivered in these collection points, and received a sustainable destination, helping to reduce damages to the environment. In addition, Condominium Vale Luz grants discounts to 93 condominiums in Bahia and Pernambuco.
In
order to get discounts granted by Vale Luz, the
customer shall go to one of the project’s collection points, carrying materials
such as metal (aluminum cans and iron), paper, paperboard, plastic (PET
bottles, cleaning and hygiene product’s packaging), vegetable oils (such as
those used in cooking, coconut, soy, canola, sunflower, corn oil). More than
reducing the amount of the energy bill, Vale Luz aims to stimulate the rational use of natural resources and minimize the negative impacts resulting from waste, encouraging recycling.
The
project has fixed points and operates in low-income communities with adapted
tents and trucks with periodical visits to collect waste. Vale Luz's exchange points may be found through App Vale Luz Cliente (Qr Code below) or accessing the distributors' websites (Celpe, Coelba and Cosern).
In Bahia and Pernambuco, condominiums may also join the program through Vale Luz Condominium, which collects waste directly in housing condominiums, granting discounts in the energy bill of the enrolled condominium. For enrollment, send an e-mail to eficiencia@neoenergia.com, mentioning the reference Vale Luz Celpe (if residing in Pernambuco) or Vale Luz Coelba (if residing in Bahia).
