Celpe, Neoenergia Group's distributor in Pernambuco, inaugurated, last Wednesday (20), the Olinda Substation. With an investment of R$ 6 million and installed capacity of 66.6 MVA, the new substation shall reinforce the energy system, expanding the region's power supply and increasing the reliability of the city's supply during the Carnival period.
Olinda Substation has received technical improvements and is expected to serve a population of approximately 250,000 inhabitants in more than 80,000 consumer units. The inauguration, in a period near Carnival, aims to expand the city's energy system and is part of Celpe's actions for the period of great movement in Olinda - important carnival center of the country.
The concessionaire has invested in the modernization of substation equipment and complete automation of the unit, which allows remote operation and load management in case of occurrences, enabling quick resolution. “The delivery of the fully refurbished Olinda Substation, prepared to meet the growth in power demand near Carnival, reinforces Celpe's investments in the continuous improvement of its power distribution system and customer service. With the unit, we expect to serve our customers with ever-increasing quality", says Celpe CEO, Antonio Carlos Sanches.
In addition, Olinda Substation follows Celpe's alignment in reinforcing the safe use of electricity with the community. The walls feature graffiti images with safety tips for the population such as not flying kites in the surroundings of the distribution network, avoiding the installation of antennas near the power grid and the dangers and damage of clandestine connections. The graffiti of the substation walls is an additional strategy of the distributor to increase people's awareness on the importance of using the electrical system correctly and avoiding pichação (a unique form of graffiti, classified as vandalism).
