Film festival in Rio Grande do Norte will run until 17/3

Rio de Janeiro, February 29

The Curta Caicó is open for registration until March 17 for the selection of films produced throughout the country. Those interested in participating in the seventh edition of the film festival, in the city in the region of Seridó (RN), can compete with productions of up to 20 minutes, with an end date starting in January 2022. Registration is free and is available at www.curtacaico.com.br and on Instagram (@curtacaico). Those chosen will be announced in September, and the exhibition will be held in

October.

Curta Caicó is supported by the Transforming Energy into Culture public tender program, carried out by the Neoenergia Institute in partnership with the company's distributors, including Neoenergia Cosern, which promotes the initiative in the state, through the Câmara Cascudo Cultural Program. The dealership serves around 1.5 million customers in Rio Grande do Norte

.

For

the second consecutive year, the festival will encourage film training with screenwriting activities and audiovisual language workshops in public schools. Last year, the students produced seven short films under the coordination of professionals from various parts of the country. The films were screened outdoors with the participation of parents, students, teachers, and the community at large.

“We are committed to promoting sociocultural actions in our areas of activity to, among other objectives, value the rich Brazilian diversity. Initiatives, such as Transforming Energy into Culture, help to strengthen the business chain of cultural entrepreneurship, in addition to promoting the social development of communities,” says Renata Chagas, Director of the Neoenergia Institute.

Created in 2018, the festival mainly encourages regional Brazilian film productions. Until the last edition, the festival received more than 4,200 film submissions from all regions of the

country.

Our training program has revealed new talents from Seridó.

In 2023, the Screenwriting Laboratory alone fostered the emergence of nine local directors who produced films about masters of popular culture in the region,” said Raildon Lucena, director of the festival.
