Neoenergia, one
of the leaders in Brazilian electric sector,
received, this Thursday (6), the unprecedented anti-bribery certification,
further reinforcing the Company’s culture of integrity and transparency.
Delivered
in a ceremony held in the company’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro,
certification in Anti-bribery Management System (ISO 37001) is the recognition
for Neoenergia’s good governance practices in
this area. The company is already rated as the most transparent company in
Brazil by International Transparency NGO in 2018, through the analysis of the
company’s corporate report.
“This
seal reaffirms to the society Neoenergia’s commitment with the integrity of
processes and fight against corruption. The recognition reinforces our
compliance program with regulatory tools to fight corruption both in internal
and external levels. This is the crowning achievement of an array of
actions carried out in the last years, positioning the company in a high level
of responsibility and engagement”, says Mario Ruiz-Tagle, Neoenergia’s CEO.
ISO
37001 was obtained after a long auditing process in internal indicators, rules
and regulations. Having an open whistleblower channel, anonymous and available
to all employees, as well as a strict framing in information and data
management were some of the factors certified in interviews held with employees
and executives and were determinant to approve the achievement of ISO 37001.
This
certification is worldwide recognized and is valid for three years, with annual
reviews.
“This
new certification positions Neoenergia in a differentiated level among Brazilian
companies as regards to anti-corruption and anti-bribery management,
recognizing best practices in compliance, in addition to stimulate loyalty of
all employees to our values, as an important highlight to ethics”, said Roberto
Medeiros, Neoenergia’s Compliance
Superintendent.
In
addition to ISO and the recognition from International Transparency, Neoenergia
was awarded for three times in a row with the Pro-Ethics Company Seal (from the
Office of the Federal Controller General (CGU) and Apex-Brasil), reinforcing a
Compliance culture, with adoption of practices to fight corruption,
transparency, seriousness and organization’s commitment.
