The project is part of the distributor's Energy Efficiency Program and will generate savings of R$ 852,000 a year in the federal capital

The Army Military Intelligence School (EsIMEx), located in the Urban Military Sector, inaugurated its new photovoltaic solar power plant on Thursday (31). The unit now operates with clean, renewable energy, the result of a partnership between Neoenergia and the Ministry of Defense, through the Brazilian Army.

The ceremony was attended by generals Anísio David de Oliveira Júnior and Carlos Eduardo Barbosa, Neoenergia's CEO Frederico Candian, Bruno Ribeiro, coordinator of Support for Institutional Articulation at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and Paulo de Carvalho, secretary of Innovation and Energy Transition at Aneel. Other representatives from Neoenergia and the Brazilian Army also attended the event.

The photovoltaic solar plant project received an investment of over R$1 million, made possible by Neoenergia Brasília's Energy Efficiency Program (PEE), regulated by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). With 600 solar panels and an installed capacity of 339 kWp, the plant is expected to generate more than 500 MWh per year, providing annual savings of approximately R$ 340,000 for the public purse.

In the Federal District, the partnership between Neoenergia and the Army has already allocated R$ 2.6 million to energy efficiency projects, with estimated annual savings of R$ 852 thousand. Among the actions carried out are the replacement of more than 15,500 light bulbs and 551 lighting fixtures in military units, promoting sustainability and modernization of the infrastructure.

"The inauguration of this solar plant reaffirms Neoenergia's commitment to building a more sustainable future and to energy efficiency in the public sector.Together with the Brazilian Army, we are showing that the energy transition is already a concrete reality in the Federal District, with economic, social and environmental benefits for the entire population," said Frederico Candian, CEO of Neoenergia Brasília.

Since taking over energy distribution in the Federal District in March 2021, Neoenergia Brasília has been stepping up investments in energy efficiency in the public sector. The distributor has already replaced more than 247,000 light bulbs in institutions such as the Federal Police, the University of Brasília (UnB) and the Armed Forces themselves, as well as installing 17 photovoltaic plants with a total installed capacity of 3.1 MWp. In addition, around 74,000 families will receive 321,000 LED light bulbs, more than 4,900 fridges and actions to raise awareness about efficient consumption.

The new solar plant also reinforces the commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 7, which promotes access to clean and affordable energy. The system remains active even on cloudy days, offering a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible solution for energy consumption.
