Women's Tour de France pioneer Tota Magalhães leads the fourth stage and advances in the competition
Team Neoenergia ambassador is the first Brazilian cyclist to take part in the respected nine-day competition in France
The first Brazilian cyclist to compete in the Women's Tour de France, Ana Vitória Magalhães, or Tota, led the fourth stage of the competition on Tuesday (29) by 74 kilometers. With this unprecedented feat, the athlete made significant progress in the race, scoring 20 points. The cyclist is 21st in the points classification and fifth in the mountain race, after four of the nine stages in this year's edition of the Women's Tour de France. Tota is one of the eight ambassadors of Team Neoenergia, and the first athlete to be sponsored in 2023. She took part in the Paris 2024 Games, where she finished 74th in road cycling.
"In a nine-day race, the challenge goes beyond the physical, it's mainly mental. You have to be okay with yourself, with a clear head, and accept that there will be ups and downs during the days," said Tota Magalhães. Theathlete highlights the importance of the company's sponsorship in the early stages of her career, which was crucial to her progress. "Having the support of partners like Neoenergia made all the difference to my professional growth to the highest level of world cycling. In two years, I made my debut at the Olympics and in the long-awaited Tour de France," he added.
Who is Tota Magalhães? Born in Rio de Janeiro, 24-year-old Tota Magalhães is one of the leading names in Brazilian women's cycling of the new generation. She has won national titles, participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics and is now a member of the elite squad in world cycling with Movistar Team. She has always enjoyed playing sport, ever since she was a little girl. She even played soccer for teams in Rio de Janeiro as a child, but in her early teens, at the age of 13, she fell in love with cycling when she saw her family going out together to Corcovado. She couldn't go on the ride, but she trained hard from that day on. From then on, Tota continued cycling with the long term in mind. The Brazilian cyclist plans to make her second Olympic appearance in Los Angeles 2028.
