Sport with less environmental impact: partnership with Neoenergia will prevent the emission of more than 360 tons of carbon dioxide at the Time Brasil Training Center in three years

Sport closer to the people: Partnership provides for actions to promote Olympic sport in the country, especially in the regions where Neoenergia operates

"We are moving forward with this partnership by aligning these two agendas with the purpose of spreading Olympic sport to make it increasingly inclusive, sustainable and close to people in all regions, especially where we are present," said Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia.

After more than a year of successful partnership, Neoenergia announces the renewal of its partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) until 2028. In this new season, the two brands remain determined to further expand Olympic sport in the country, with a special focus on female inclusion and sustainability. The announcement was made on Wednesday (24) during COB Expo 2025, in São Paulo.

To promote the connection with Olympic sport in this new cycle, expanding female participation, a series of actionswill be carried out in Brazil, mainly in the concession areas of Neoenergia's five distributors, which serve 17 million customers in the Federal District, Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and part of the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, reaching a population of around 40 million people.

Another novelty is that the supply of 100% renewable energy to the Time Brasil Training Center in Rio de Janeiro, which began in March this year, will also be extended until 2028: the estimate is to reduce emissions by more than 360 tons ofCO2 over the period, which corresponds to 7,768 air trips between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. With this, the BOC will be able to zero out emissions related to scope 2, which deals specifically with electricity consumption, as well as saving around R$4.5 million on the CT's energy costs over the next three years.

"Our partnership with COB reinforces two of Neoenergia's fundamental commitments: equal opportunities, which strengthens the role of women inside and outside sport; and sustainability, which allows us to accelerate the energy transition with innovative solutions. We are moving forward with this partnership by aligning these two agendas with the purpose of spreading Olympic sport to make it increasingly inclusive, sustainable and close to people in all regions, especially where we are present," said Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia.

"Renewing this partnership with Neoenergia is strategic and extremely important. We believe that the path to creating a sporting nation must include sustainable actions such as those that Neoenergia has promoted with us. By adopting 100% renewable energy in our Training Centre and seeking to neutralize our emissions, the BOC is taking a decisive step not only in terms of sporting excellence, but also in its commitment to the future of the planet. Sustainability and high performance go hand in hand," said Marco La Porta, president of the BOC.

Leadership in supporting women's sport

The renewal of the sponsorship consolidates Neoenergia's leadership as the company in the energy sector that most supports women's sport in Brazil, according to a survey by RepTrak. The strategic partnership between Neoenergia and the BOC began in July 2024 and has achieved important results. Since March of this year, the company has been supplying 100% renewable energy to CT Time Brasil through the free market. By December of this year, this partnership will reduce emissions by around 100 tons ofCO2, which corresponds to 2,146 air trips between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Another advantage for the BOC is the saving of around R$1.4 million on the CT's energy costs by the end of 2025.

Unprecedented sponsorship of the Youth Games in Brasilia

For the first time, the company sponsored the Caixa 2025 Youth Games, which had a record number of athletes with around 4,700 young people from 20 sports, most of them women. The competition was held this month in Brasília, where Neoenergia serves around 1.1 million customers through its distributor, Neoenergia Brasília.

"We believe that Olympic values, such as overcoming, discipline and unity, are deeply connected to Neoenergia's values. That's why we're reinforcing our commitment to go beyond energy and leave a positive mark on society through sport. Our support is strategic: we want to expand the presence of women's sport in Brazil, connecting millions of Brazilians to stories of inspiration and inclusion. This pillar is part of our way of contributing to a fairer, more sustainable and diverse future," said Lorenzo Perales, Neoenergia's Marketing Director.

The executive emphasized that Neoenergia also promotes women's sport through Team Neoenergia, which already has eight athletes from different sports: Bia Souza (judo); Ana Marcela (open water); Antonia Silva (soccer); Rayane Soares (paralympic athletics); Ana Vitória Magalhães, Tota (cycling); Bruna Kajiya (kitesurfing); Mirelle Leite (athletics); and Celine Bispo (swimming).

"The BOC celebrates the continuity of this union with Neoenergia, which has been consolidated as an example of a strategic partnership in Brazilian Olympic sport. The growth of sport in Brazil depends on companies that share the vision that equal opportunities drive talent and sustainability actions transform society. Together, we will continue to break down barriers and boost women's presence on and off podiums throughout the country," explained Manoela Penna, COB's Communications and Marketing Director.

BOC and women's sport

Since 2021, the BOC has been promoting the development of women's sport through the Women in Sport area, which leads and coordinates the organization's gender equality actions. In 2022, the Women in Sport Commission was set up to make recommendations and suggestions for policies that empower and promote their presence in competitions.

The committee also has the Women's Sports Development Program (PDEF), which is responsible for investment, promotion and activities focused on training and awareness.
