Organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) since 1999, the Brasil Olímpico Award is the main award for Olympic sport in the country. This edition marks another record for Ana Marcela Cunha's career - she was nominated for the 13th time as the best open water swimmer, making her the biggest winner of all sports in the country.
"This recognition drives me forward to improve my performance. That's why it's essential to have partners like Neoenergia, who support women's sport, so that we can go in search of new achievements," said Ana Marcela. The first Brazilian woman to win Olympic gold in open water at the Tokyo 2020 Games, the swimmer is preparing for the Channel crossing in July next year.
Cyclist Tota Magalhães also highlighted the importance of Neoenergia's sponsorship. "I hope to inspire other athletes who, like me, work hard to achieve their goals. The journey of a professional athlete is not an easy one, but with discipline and dedication, everything comes together. 2028 is just around the corner," said Tota. This year, she became the first Brazilian to compete in the 2025 women's Tour de France, leading the breakaway for more than half the route between Saumur and Poitiers.
Partnership until 2028
This year, Neoenergia and COB announced the renewal of their partnership until 2028. The two brands remain determined to spread the reach of Olympic sport in the country, with a special focus on female inclusion and sustainability. Among the new features is the expansion of the supply of 100% renewable energy to the Time Brasil Training Center in Rio de Janeiro, which began in March and will generate savings of around R$4.5 million in energy costs over the next three years. For the first time, Neoenergia sponsored the 2025 Youth Games in Brasília, where the company serves around 1.1 million customers through its distributor Neoenergia Brasília. The event set a record for participation, with around 4,700 young people taking part in 20 sports, most of them women. The brands also launched the "More for Women's Sport" campaign.
"Neoenergia's participation in the Brasil Olímpico Award reinforces our role in valuing the two purposes that unite us with the COB: equal opportunities, which strengthens the role of women on and off the court, and sustainability, which allows us to supply renewable energy to the CT, contributing to the energy transition through innovative actions," said Solange Ribeiro, vice-president of Neoenergia.
