Neoenergia receives transmission line installation license in Rio de Janeiro

6/15/22

New line was closed by the company in lot 2 of the December 2018 auction and has operational synergy with another project under construction in the Southeast region

Neoenergia obtained the installation license that authorizes the construction of the transmission line and substation that make up the Guanabara project. The project was acquired by the company in lot 2 of the auction held by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) in December 2018. The document was issued by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).

The transmission line will have 328 kilometers, in double circuit, with voltage at 500 kV. In addition, a new substation, Campos 2, will be built, and two other substations will be expanded: Terminal Rio and Lagos. All assets are located in Rio de Janeiro.

The project has operational synergy with another Neoenergia project, the Itabapoana line, which is under construction between the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. Summing up the two lots, are 567 kilometers of lines.

The objective of the implementation of the new developments is to expand the transmission network to reinforce the flow of energy between the Northeast and Southeast regions. " Transmission is important for the safety and reliability of the electricity sector and, consequently, for the economic development of the regions. We are moving forward with our projects, contributing to the economy of our areas of activity", says the Director of Transmission and Subtransmission Projects, Fabiano Uchoas.

The works also contribute to the creation of jobs. For the implementation of the Guanabara project, the company expects to generate 2,660 direct and almost 4,000 indirect jobs.
