Olympic Movement gala night honors women's soccer players, as well as Olympians Bia Souza, Ana Marcela Cunha and Tota Magalhães, also members of Team Neoenergia

This Tuesday's 2024 edition of the Brazil Olympic Awards was full of novelties. The gala evening of the Olympic Movement showed the importance of Neoenergia's sponsorship of women's sport in Brazil. The Brazilian Women's National Football Team, which has had the company's support since 2021, received the trophy for "Best Team of the Year" and three athletes from Team Brasil and members of Team Neoenergia were also winners. Among the ambassadors, judoka Bia Souza, gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was voted the best in "Judo". Road cyclist Tota Magalhães and open water swimmer Ana Marcela won individually in their respective disciplines.

Neoenergia's sponsorship of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) was announced in July this year and has allowed the company to expand its involvement in women's sport in the country, benefiting mainly female athletes, including those who represent Team Brazil.

The event, held annually by the BOC in Rio de Janeiro, celebrated Team Brazil's victorious campaign in the French capital, where the country won 20 medals. Brazil's Olympic campaign was an important step towards advancing gender equality in sport. For the first time, the number of women athletes in Team Brazil was higher than the number of men in an Olympics, with around 55% female participation.

"Neoenergia's partnership with the BOC has come at a landmark moment in the history of the Brazilian Olympic movement to increase the appreciation of women inside and outside sport. These are two brands that share a commitment to two priority agendas for society: gender equality and sustainability," said Lorenzo Perales, Neoenergia's Marketing Director.

Under the agreement with the BOC, the company will also offer energy solutions to implement sustainability actions that will reduceCO2 emissions at the Time Brasil Training Center in Rio de Janeiro.

Other actions are also planned to encourage the presence of women in sport, such as the Mentoring Program for Women Coaches (MIRA) specialization course, promoted by the BOC with Neoenergia's support next week, to increase the number of these professionals, especially at the Olympic Games.

Currently, Neoenergia is the company in the sector recognized as the one that most supports women's sport in Brazil. Team Neoenergia already has seven athletes from different sports disciplines. The initiative contributed, for example, to the qualification of three athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Ana Marcela (open water); Ana Vitória Magalhães, Tota (road cycling); and Antonia Silva (women's soccer). The other members are: Bruna Kajiya (kitesurfing); Mirelle Leite (athletics); Celine Bispo (swimming) and newcomer Bia Souza (judo).
