Neoenergia Institute and CIEDS promote training for more than 6,000 educators in five Brazilian states
The initiative launches an impact report on the project's five years in operation and repositions itself as "Bridges for Education" with the aim of consolidating its work in public schools
After five years of transformative action in 14 Brazilian municipalities, the Balcão de Ideias e Práticas Educativas (BIPE) project is starting a new cycle. The initiative, the result of a partnership between the Neoenergia Institute and the Integrated Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Programs (CIEDS), launches its results report and announces its new identity: Bridges for Education.
The repositioning marks the maturing of the project, which was born in 2019 with the aim of strengthening public education through continuing teacher training, advising managers and valuing local pedagogical practices. Since then, BIPE has mobilized more than 6,000 education professionals in five Brazilian states. Together, the school networks account for more than 99,000 students. The full report is available on the Neoenergia Institute and CIEDS websites.
With its new name, Pontes para Educação (Bridges for Education), the project reaffirms its commitment to building solid and sustainable paths for quality public education, connecting experiences, territories and educational policies. "More than an ideas desk, today we are bridges between schools and territories, between professionals and policies, between the present and the future of the education we want to see in the country," says Nathacha Monteiro Ferreira, the project's coordinator.
Education with dignity for all
The results report shows the power of action in local contexts. There were 408 educational practices developed, 43 guiding documents for public policies produced and 68 Pedagogical Political Projects updated with technical support from the project team. The results also include an increase in children's interest in school, the strengthening of training in the areas of early childhood education, pedagogical innovation, inclusive and integral education, as well as a virtual platform with more than 15,000 accesses to training content.
"One of the project's great differentials is the care taken when we arrive in the territories. Before any action is taken, there is a process of listening and mapping local realities. This guarantees the involvement of managers, educators, councils, social organizations and community leaders right from the start. And this joint work strengthens community engagement and ensures that the proposed solutions are truly aligned with the demands of each municipality," says Renata Chagas, CEO of the Neoenergia Institute.
Testimonies gathered in territories such as Junco do Seridó (PB), Itaparica (BA), Francisco Morato (SP) and Triunfo (PE) show how the initiative has brought about real changes in management, classrooms and school communities. "I want everyone to be able to read and write with dignity. And for our children to be excellent professionals. Education is what bears fruit," said Mariana Nóbrega, secretary of education in Junco do Seridó.
A new phase: Bridges to the future
With the launch of the report, the project is preparing for its next stage with an even more strategic approach. The new name carries the symbolism of a crossing: the bridge as a structure that connects people, knowledge, policies and territories in favor of educational equity. The experience accumulated over the last five years will be the basis for expanding the program, with new formats for action and the possibility of reaching more public networks across the country.
