The Company's operations are based on several corporate policies that have the objective of ensuring the alignment of all companies in the group with their commitment to the social dividend and the Sustainable Development Objectives (SGDs), especially in relation to objectives 7 and 13, regarding universal access to electricity and the fight against climate changes.​​

To do this, the company innovates, undertakes new investments and adopts more efficient, sustainable and clean technologies, promotes growth and develops the talent and technical and human capacities of its professionals, works for the safety of people and strives to build a successful project together with its entire value chain.


The General Sustainable Development Policy establishes the general principles and substantiates the basis for the group's sustainability strategy to ensure that all corporate and business activities are committed and promote the creation of sustainable value for all stakeholders, citizens, customers, shareholders and communities impacted by their businesses), equitably rewarding all the collectives that contribute to the success of their project.

Neoenergia maintains a long-term vision that aims for a better future without compromising present results. The real and effective implementation of this sustainable development strategy is one of the key elements to differentiate the company in the Brazilian electric sector.

Every year, the company renews the commitment made in 2007 with the ten principles of the Global Compact, an initiative that advocates a performance based on respect for human rights, labor rights, environmental preservation, and anti-corruption, and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both of the UN. Since 2002, the company has been a member of the Ethos Institute of Business and Social Responsibility (Instituto Ethos de Empresas e Responsabilidade Social, in Portuguese). In 2016, it joined the Together for Sustainable Development (Juntos pelo Desenvolvimento Sustentável, in Portuguese) program by Comunitas, a civil society organization that fosters and strengthens a collective pact between sectors for the sustainable development of the country. It is affiliated to the GHG Protocol, a methodology it uses to produce its GHG Inventory. It is also a member of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), with participation in the Climate and Biodiversity Thematic Chambers and as a member of the Leaders Council and the Board of Directors.
