Sustainability has become an increasingly common topic in everyday life. Neoenergia, through its commitment towards sustainable development, seeks to encourage initiatives that prioritize energy efficiency and conscious consumption. Many actions can be taken on the daily life, resulting on benefits that increase the life quality of your family and the planet.
"Saving energy is within everyone's reach, when minding to turn off the light in empty rooms or during the day, check refrigerator seals, buy energy efficient equipment (with Procel Seal), as well as reuse disposable materials. By recycling products, savings appear in several stages, since the extraction of raw material from nature to their transportation and manufacture. With that, we contribute towards a more sustainable future", states the manager of Energy Efficiency at Neoenergia, Ana Mascarenhas. The initiatives also include the use of Led lamps, avoid opening the refrigerator several times, taking shorter showers, and closing the tap when not using it.
A good example of how to adopt a sustainable behavior is in Vale Luz, an Energy Efficiency project of Neoenergia's distributors, regulated by the National Electrical Power Agency (Aneel). The initiative promotes the recycling of items such as paper, metal, and plastic in exchange for discounts on the electricity bill. The project takes place at the concessionaires Coelba (BA), Celpe (PE), and Cosern (RN) and, in 2020 alone, 419 tons of waste were recycled, with an overall discount exceeding R$ 107 thousand on the electricity bills of 5,388 consumers.
All projects promoted by Neoenergia's distributors are in line with the Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by Aneel, as well as with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations (UN). Among the 17 UN goals, Neoenergia prioritizes meeting items 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action), and directly contributes to items 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 15 (Life on Land), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
