The Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Distributors (Associação Brasileira de Distribuidores de Energia Elétrica - Abradee) announced on Monday (17) the 2019 Abradee Award finalists, one of the main acknowledgments of the Brazilian electric sector. As an unprecedented achievement, the four distributors of Neoenergia (Coelba, Celpe, Cosern and Elektro), a Brazilian company controlled by Iberdrola Group, are among the finalists among the 31 concessionaires in the country with more than 500 thousand consumers.

At the 21st edition, the award has been granted on a yearly basis since 1999. 51 electric energy distribution concessionaries, operating in all regions of the country and responsible for supplying approximately 99.6% of the Brazilian electricity market, are members of Abradee.

Elektro, which serves 2.6 million customers in 223 municipalities in São Paulo and five in Mato Grosso do Sul, is a finalist in five categories: Best Distributor in Brazil, Best Distributor in the Southeast Region, Social Responsibility, Management Quality and Economic and Financial Management.

In its concession area, Cosern, which supplies energy to 1.4 million customers in 167 municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte, is competing in four categories: Best Distributor in Brazil, Best Distributor in the Northeast Region, Social Responsibility and Management Quality.

The result of the Abradee Award will be announced on July 03 at the headquarters of the National Confederation of Industry (Confederação Nacional da Indústria - CNI), in Brasília. The purpose of the Award is to recognize and disseminate best practices among all associated distributors, providing a fast and sustained improvement in the quality of electric energy services offered to the population.
