Energética Águas da Pedra (Eapsa) is a special purpose company controlled by Grupo Neoenergia (51%), Eletronorte (24.5%), and Chesf (24.5%), and has operated the Dardanelos Hydro Power Plant (HPP) since 2011.

The Dardanelos HPP was built on the Aripuanã River, in the state of Mato Grosso. The enterprise has the best ratio of flooded area and amount of energy generated in Brazil: an installed capacity of 261 MW for a 0.24 km² reservoir. This means that the territory occupied by the plant's water is very well used for the generation of energy. The Dardanelos PPT's area of influence is the municipality of Aripuanã.

Since it went into operation, the Dardanelos PPT has maintained contracts for the purchase and sale of the generated energy with a pool of 24 distributors in Brazil.

BACKGROUND OF THE DARDANELOS PPT

The environmental feasibility process of the Dardanelos PPT began in 2003, carried out by Eletronorte. After obtaining a Preliminary Environmental License, a hydro power development bid was held on October 10, 2006, which established as the winner the consortium consisting of the companies that make up SPE Energética Águas da Pedra. On May 3, 2007, Dardanelos received its Installation License, which marked the beginning of the activities for its implementation.

INVESTMENT

Approximately BRL 745 million was invested in the enterprise. Of this amount, Neoenergia allocated BRL 380 million, of which 65% was third-party funds and 35% was its own funds.
