More than 325 thousand families are at risk of losing the benefit of the Social Electricity Tariff, Neoenergia points out

A survey was conducted among the group's five distributors in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast regions; see how to update

Rio de Janeiro, August 29, 2023
More than 325.2 thousand Neoenergia customers distributed in the states of Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District, are at risk of losing the benefit of the Social Electricity Tariff (TSEE) due to the outdated registration with the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) in the municipalities. Granted by the Federal Government, the TSEE exempts 100% of the electricity bill for indigenous people and quilombola people, and up to 65% for low-income consumers enrolled in federal social programs.

“On all of our invoices, we printed an alert inviting the beneficiaries of the Social Electricity Tariff to update their registration with the CRAS, according to the photo that illustrates this matter. It's important that these customers update their data so they don't miss out on this important benefit granted by the federal government. We emphasize that the exclusion of systems is not carried out by Neoenergia, but by the federal government itself”, highlights Leonardo Moura, superintendent of Business Processes at Neoenergia.

To guarantee the benefit, the person must have an updated Social Registration Number (NIS) or Benefit Number (NB). If it is out of date, it is necessary to go to the Social Assistance Reference Center closest to the residence to rectify the situation in the Federal Government's CadÚnico. Those who do not have the NIS or NB (BPC/LOAS), but have an income lower than half the minimum wage per person in the household, can also obtain the number from the CRAS.

When the holder of the electricity bill is the beneficiary himself and the holder of the Social Registration Number or Benefit Number, Neoenergia automatically enrolls. However, when the title is in someone else's social security number, there is no way to register automatically. From that moment on, the customer must seek one of the group's distributors to receive the benefit. Registration is simple, fast and can be done through WhatsApp, the official website or the distributors' Service Stores.

Only with the numbers in hand, the customer can request the TSEE benefit from the dealership. It is worth mentioning that there is no deadline for applying. The consumer can register at any time to enjoy the benefit, provided that they meet the classification prerequisites, submit the necessary documentation and the granting of the benefit is validated. It is important to note that the discount is not cumulative. If two people have the NIS or NB, only one can register for the Social Tariff.

Who is entitled to TSEE?
• Low-income family that is enrolled in the Federal Government's Unified Register for Social Programs, that is, has NIS - Social Identification Number, with monthly family income per person less than or equal to half the national minimum wage, regardless of whether they have the Bolsa Família benefit or not;

• Low-income family that is enrolled in the Unified Register of the City Hall, with a monthly family income of up to three minimum salaries, that has someone with illness or pathology who needs the continued use of electrical appliances or equipment;

• Low-income family with an elderly person or a disabled person receiving the Continuing Social Assistance Benefit - BPC, LOAS Law, with its respective NB - Benefit Number. Each family is entitled to the benefit of the Social Electricity Tariff - TSEE in just one consumer unit.
