With support from the Neoenergia Institute, Connect Cultural allocates R$ 500,000 to promote and preserve the region's immaterial memory. Registrations are open until July 5

The Recônica da Bahia, symbol of Afro-Brazilian identity, was chosen for the premiere of Conectar Cultural, an unprecedented public call that will allocate a total of R$ 500,000 to up to five cultural projects developed in the region with 20 municipalities. With the support of the Neoenergia Institute, the public notice is open for registration until July 5. Those interested should access the website www.conectarcultural.com.br/inscriptions

.

“The objective is to promote the appreciation of local culture. Our support reinforces the importance of private social investment to help transform the reality of these locations through art and culture,” says Renata Chagas, CEO of the Neoenergia Institute.

The public call is also an opportunity to carry out cultural activities promoted individually or collectively, which have an institutional structure but do not have their practices recognized as heritage by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) and other public institutions. The public notice provides for the production of a multimedia publication to record cultural events in the

region.

Support for registrants - During the first month of registration, Connect Cultural will hold meetings in six cities in Recônica Baiano to answer questions about registrations.

“The presence of cultural creators in the realization of Connect Cultural is essential as a demonstration of belonging to a place, knowledge and cultural activity, guaranteeing the maintenance and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage,” says Neusa Martins, manager of Connect Cultural at Bahia.

The events will take place in Cachoeira, on May 8 and 9; in Santo Antônio de Jesus, on May 15 and 16; in Cruz das Almas, on May 22 and 23; in Saubara, on May 29 and 30; in Maragogipe, on June 5 and 6; and, finally, in São Francisco do Conde on June 12 and 13.

To make the public call a reflection of the diversity and cultural richness of Recônica da Bahia, diagnoses and mapping of the region's cultural manifestations were carried out in partnership with researchers and local leaders.

“Built on the basis of the coordination of major academic, governmental and civil society partners, Conectar Cultural adopts a model and methodology of action to contribute directly to the maintenance of the groups that own, their agents, collectives and directors of Recônica da Bahia”,

says Marcia Glioscid, executive director of the São Paulo Institute of Art and Culture (ISPAC).

The initiative is presented by the Ministry of Culture and the Neoenergia Institute, organized by the São Paulo Institute of Art and Culture (ISPAC) and sponsored by Neoenergia Coelba (distributor of Neoenergia in Bahia), through the Federal Law on Incentive to Culture. Conectar Cultural is supported by the Secretariat of Culture of the State of Bahia - SECULT, through FUNCEB, IPAC and CCPI, the Superintendency of IPHAN in Bahia, UFBA, UFRB, UNEB, Hansen Bahia Foundation and Instituto Popular do

Recônica.
