Neoenergia leads among the companies that invested the most in infrastructure in Brazil last year, according to ABDIB

Neoenergia participated in the opening of the “ABDIB Forum 2025 - Infrastructure: Pathways to Sustainable Development”, held by the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industries in Brasília, this Thursday (5). According to an ABDIB survey, the company leads among the companies that invested the most in infrastructure in the country in 2024: R$ 9.8 billion was earmarked for the expansion of networks in Brazil, focusing mainly on distribution and transmission. Of this total, 1/3 - or R$ 3.5 billion - were invested in Bahia in distribution - representing almost R$ 3 billion for Neoenergia Coelba -
, transmission and renewable generation.
The ABDIB listing considers basic industry investments based on the companies' financial statements verified last year. The Institutional, Regulatory and Sustainability Vice President of Neoenergia, Solange Ribeiro, emphasized Neoenergia's leadership in investing resources, surpassing companies in the energy market itself and in other sectors, such as telecommunications, highways and sanitation
.
“The sectors that make up the infrastructure ecosystem have been a lever for investments and an important factor of competitiveness for the national industry. In 2024, the amount invested in infrastructure in the country reached R$ 260 billion, an increase of about 15% compared to the previous year. This amount is a record for the historical series followed by ABDIB since 2010,” the executive explained during the event
.
Solange Ribeiro, who is also vice-president of the ABDIB board, also reinforced the prominent role played by the electricity sector in this amount. “The segment accounted for 45% of last year's investments, with a total of R$ 120 billion. Of the sectors monitored by ABDIB, it was the only one where the volume matched the estimated need,” he added
.
Data from the ABDIB Blue Book reveal that, in the last five years, more than R$ 1 trillion was invested in infrastructure in the country, with 77% of these resources coming from private sources.
Energy transition — During the event, Solange Ribeiro also defended the advancement of the energy transition in Brazil as an opportunity to promote investments in infrastructure in the country.
For the executive, moving forward with the energy transition symbolizes an opportunity to occupy a prominent place on the global stage.
“It is an opportune moment to reposition Brazil as the leader of the new world economy and to assume a prominent role in global value chains, focused on the energy transition and its impacts on neoindustrialization,” he
said.
The vice-president also stressed that the development of the industry, which will follow this transition, will translate into new jobs and markets, in addition to social development and opportunities for all. “The world is currently demanding crucial investments and offers opportunities in Data Centers, Artificial Intelligence and Green Hydrogen, all dependent on clean, stable and secure energy. Whoever leads this race will now reap the rewards for decades,” he added.
The ABDIB Forum 2025 brought together authorities from the Executive, Legislative, Judicial and executive branches of the country's main infrastructure companies to discuss the construction of an agenda to stimulate investments in the segment, considered fundamental to increasing competitiveness and the resumption of economic growth.
