Renewable Generation

Sustainability and innovation with solar power plants and electric mobility. A new way of living Fernando de Noronha
Including the plants that already supply the archipelago, there will be a total of five photovoltaic solar plants
plants in Fernando de Noronha. With estimated capacities of between 50 kWp and 22 MW,
the structures have features such as an annual reduction of 200,000 liters/year of diesel oil and exclusive supply for electric cars.

Floating Solar Photovoltaic Plant
With an estimated generation of 1,085 MWh/year, promoting clean energy with an annual reduction of 718.4 tons of CO2, the first Floating Solar Power Plant in the state of Pernambuco will be installed on the Xaréu Dam. The project, built through the Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by ANEEL, has 622 peak kilowatts and 950 modules.
Noronha 2 Solar Photovoltaic Plant
With an estimated average annual generation of 740 MWh/year, the Noronha 2 Solar Photovoltaic Plant was installed by Neoenergia, in partnership with the Government of Pernambuco and the German agency GIZ, and is part of the Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by ANEEL. Inaugurated in July 2015, it covers an area of 8,500 m² and supplies around 5% of Fernando de Noronha's energy consumption, helping to make the island even more sustainable.
Noronha Verde Solar Photovoltaic Plant (under construction)
With 22MWdc of renewable generation, the Solar Photovoltaic Plant will occupy a total area of 0.3 KM² in Fernando de Noronha and will have 49 MWh of capacity for the BESS system (Battery Energy Storage System). The plant will have more than 30,000 solar panels and will receive an investment of approximately 350 million reais. Designed to reduce the island's dependence on biodiesel-fired thermoelectric generation, the renewable energy plant will be conceived in a joint action involving Neoenergia, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the State Government of Pernambuco.
Replacing diesel generation with solar energy with batteries reduces dependence on fossil fuels and subsidies. It's innovation and efficiency at the service of a cleaner future!

Vacaria Solar Photovoltaic Plant
The Vacaria Solar Power Plant has a peak capacity of 50 kWp and was installed in Fernando de Noronha in 2022. Designed to supply electric vehicles exclusively, it was implemented as part of the Trilha Verde Research, Development and Innovation project, regulated by ANEEL, which has expanded electric mobility in the archipelago. Together with the plant and the Bess, installed in Lago de Noronha, they are capable of supplying up to 42 light electric vehicles simultaneously, with clean and distributed generation in the island's electricity grid to feed the electric vehicles through the electro stations.
Solar photovoltaic plant with storage system - Lab Noronha
With 50 kWp of renewable generation and 100 kW / 215 kWh of BESS system - battery energy storage - the plant is one of those responsible for supplying Neoenergia's electric fleet in Fernando de Noronha. In partnership with Lab Noronha, it was inaugurated in 2024 and is part of the Trilha Verde project, part of the Research, Development and Innovation program, regulated by ANEEL, serving the island's residents and visitors. Together with the Vacaria Plant, they are capable of supplying up to 42 light electric vehicles simultaneously.
