In 2020, Neoenergia stood out as one of the companies that most enrolled families in the Social Tariff of Electric Energy (TSEE). The benefit grants a discount of up to 65% in the energy bill for low-income customers. Up to October this year, 456 thousand customers were enrolled by Coelba (Bahia), Celpe (Pernambuco), Cosern (Rio Grande do Norte) and Elektro (São Paulo countryside and Mato Grosso do Sul) distributors . With an innovative strategy, the company adopted a proactive approach for enrollment, through consultation to Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico).
The automatic exemption is performed by Neoenergia, by crossing information included in the agreements with CadÚnico data, periodically provided to the concessionaries by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). “Only this year, we managed to increase our customer base enrolled with the Social Tariff by 15%", comments Neoenergia's commercial processes superintendent, Leonardo Moura. Currently, Neoenergia has over 3.1 million families enrolled with TSEE. The result achieved by the company has effectively contributed for Brazil to exceed 11 million beneficiaries.
In Bahia, Coelba enrolled 234 thousand families. In Pernambuco, Celpe performed 108 thousand enrollments and Cosern had 58 thousand enrollments in Rio Grande do Norte. Elektro enrolled 56 thousand customers eligible to the benefit. “In mostly cases, people enrolled had their right granted with no need to contact the company. This showcases Neoenergia's commitment with the population, even more important in an economic period worsened by the pandemic", says Neoenergia's Register and Billing manager, Manoel Edson de Souza.
In addition to the proactive register in Social Tariff, the four concessionaries concluded 65 thousand requests made by the customers, in platforms such Neoenergia's website and WhatsApp. The possibility of requesting inclusion in Social Tariff via the message app was offered to optimize the contact with these customers and speed up the granting of the benefit.
If the Individual Taxpayers Register (CPF) of the energy bill is not the same as the household representative in the Federal Government register, the customer have to require the inclusion in Social Tariff to access the program, and this can be made via Neoenergia's digital channels.
