First windfarm Neoenergia group to come into operation, on 15 June 2006, Rio do Fogo has 62 wind turbines and has an output of 49.3 MW. Is located in the municipality of the same name, Rio do Fogo, located in the State of Rio Grande do Norte (RN).
The Park is the first wind energy project to be encouraged by the PROINFA Incentive Programme to alternative sources of energy, the Ministry of mines and energy and Eletrobrás. The initiative aimed to encourage the use of renewable sources (such as wind, biomass and small hydropower) and made it possible for the park with the financing from the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Social (BNDES).
The fire River Park also has a weather station with anemométricos measurement sensors, atmospheric pressure, air temperature and relative humidity.
