​Itapebi Geração de Energia, a company in which Grupo Neoenergia holds a 100% stake, is responsible for the implementation and operation of the Itapebi Hydro Power Plant (HPP), located in the Jequitinhonha River between the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais.

The Itapebi HPP has an installed capacity of 462 MW and has three 150 MW generating units, ensuring a total generation of 1.88 million MWh/year of energy.

This volume is contracted until 2017 by Companhia de Eletricidade do Estado da Bahia (Coelba), a distributor of Grupo Neoenergia.

BACKGROUND OF THE ENTERPRISE

The construction of the Itapebi HPP began in 1999 by Neoenergia. Four years later, in February 2003, the hydro power plant went into operation.


INVESTMENT

The Itapebi HPP received an investment of BRL 550 million. Of this amount 30% originated from its own funds and 70% from third parties.
