The company promotes initiatives to make the population aware of the impacts of traffic accidents on the electricity grid

Neoenergia counted more than 865,000 customers who were left without electricity from January to April of this year, due to accidents involving electricity grid poles, in the regions where the company operates in energy distribution. The survey is part of the actions of the Yellow May, an international movement to raise awareness about the reduction of traffic accidents involving poles. For this reason, the utilities are carrying out various activities this month to draw society's attention to the impacts of these events on the electricity grid

.

At Neoenergia Coelba, 634,000 people were without energy in the first four months of 2025, a drop of 12.5% compared to the same period last year. Across the state, 413 incidents were registered. In the Neoenergia Brasília concession area, on the other hand, the number of collisions with poles increased by 59%, leaving 62,000 people without

electricity.

Neoenergia Pernambuco registered 454 accidents in 2025, an average of 3.8 per day. Neoenergia Elektro's data is even bigger: 926 records, with a daily average of

7.8 occurrences.

At Neoenergia Cosern, the number also increased compared to the last measurement: more than 169 thousand people were left without energy in Rio Grande do Norte, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2024.

“Collisions on poles cause great inconvenience to society, causing electrical power interruptions and risks of accidents. That's why awareness of the Yellow May is so important: it saves lives and helps minimize supply interruptions ,” says Leonardo Moura, operational superintendent of Neoenergia.
