Partnership with the Ministry of Women's Affairs transforms energy bills into a permanent protection and reception tool

Neoenergia, in partnership with the Ministry of Women, is launching a strategic action this month to strengthen the women's protection network. Starting in March, the electricity bills of more than 17 million customers in Neoenergia's concession areas - Bahia, Brasília, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and São Paulo - will display the number 180, the Women's Call Center, prominently on the back. The initiative is part of the distributor's special schedule of actions in celebration of Women's Month and seeks to transform an everyday document into a public utility and rescue tool.

"We want Neoenergia's presence to go beyond supplying energy. By including the number 180 in our bills, we are using our capillarity to expand the protection network and ensure that information on how to contact and report violence is available to more women. Violence against women often happens inside the home, and we need to reach out to these spaces. We recognize the role of companies in tackling gender inequalities and we take responsibility through this and other actions to promote equity, shelter and protection for women, both in the regions where we operate and within the company itself," explains Solange Ribeiro, vice-president of Neoenergia. "It's a concrete way of saying that they are not alone," she concludes.

"Information saves lives. When a company with the capillarity of Neoenergia incorporates 180 into more than 17 million invoices, we are transforming an essential service into an instrument for protecting women. This partnership expands the reach of Ligue 180 and strengthens the network for combating violence in the country, ensuring that the call for help is closer to those who need it," says the Minister for Women, Márcia Lopes.

According to the Ministry of Women, there were more than 1 million calls in 2025, which is equivalent to around 3,000 calls a day, and 155,111 reports of violence against women last year, which means 425 reports a day. In January 2026, there were 90,758 calls and 15,575 reports of violence against women.

The 180 service is free, confidential and operates 24 hours a day. In addition to registering reports of violence, the channel offers guidance on rights, information on legislation and referrals to the specialized care network, with a guarantee of anonymity, and to the competent authorities. By including the number on electricity bills, the company is extending the reach of information and strengthening the support network, especially in contexts where the victim may be isolated or have restricted access to means of reporting.

The measure is even more relevant given the scenario of violence against women in the country. In 2025 alone, 1,568 women were victims of femicide in Brazil, an increase of 4.7% on the previous year, according to the technical note "Portrait of femicides in Brazil", by the Brazilian Public Security Forum. In 2024, more than 257,000 women suffered intentional bodily injury (domestic violence) and 51,000 suffered psychological violence, according to the Brazilian Public Safety Yearbook.

By using its capillarity to disseminate the contact details of the reporting channel, Neoenergia contributes to ensuring that guidance reaches homes directly and helps to interrupt cycles of aggression before they evolve into more serious situations.

Support for Neoenergia's female employees

Neoenergia is also committed to supporting its female employees in tackling violence against women. Since 2023, the company has had an internal program to protect, welcome and support female employees who are victims of domestic violence. The initiative was recognized with the Good Practices Award from the They Lead 2030 Movement, promoted by the United Nations (UN) Global Compact-Brazil Network in 2030.

Neoenergia also offers training to guide electricians and meter readers to recognize signs of violence. Around 2,000 people have already taken part in the training since the program began in 2024. Training classes have already been confirmed for this year. In addition to the training courses, Neoenergia addresses the issue in campaigns throughout the year in the workplace and also with online content, such as podcasts.
