Neoenergia Wins Three Categories at the 2026 Aberje Awards
The company stood out in the “Consumer/Customer,” “Diversity and Inclusion,” and “Event” categories in the North and Northeast regions
Neoenergia, a leading company in the electricity sector, won three categories at the 2026 Aberje Awards, one of Brazil’s premier corporate communications awards. The company had three case studies selected as the best in the “Consumer/Customer,” “Diversity and Inclusion,” and “Event” categories in the North and Northeast regions. The regional winners will now compete, by category, for the national award, which will be announced on December 2.
The award-winning initiatives address grid safety during Carnival and the São João festival, the promotion of women’s sports, and the energy transition in Fernando de Noronha. Organized by the Brazilian Association of Corporate Communication, the award recognizes corporate communication initiatives that broaden the dialogue between organizations and their audiences. Now in its 52nd edition, the award is regarded as the largest and most prestigious corporate communication award in Brazil.
“This recognition demonstrates the consistency of a communication strategy that puts the customer at the center and transforms relevant topics into relatable experiences with a tangible impact. We use music to broaden the reach of safety guidelines, sports to promote equal opportunities, and communication to bring society closer to a transformative initiative for Fernando de Noronha. These are different projects, but they are united by a commitment to build trust, engage with our audiences, and create value for our customers and society,” says Lorenzo Perales, Chief Marketing Officer at Neoenergia.
Safety and Public Service
In the Consumer/Customer category, the company won with the project “Enemies of the End: When Music Makes Safety Heard,” which established a platform aimed at using music as the primary ally for awareness and safety initiatives between the company and its customers. The initiative brought together Alceu Valença and BaianaSystem in an unprecedented partnership to raise awareness among Carnival revelers about safety precautions regarding the power grid during the 2026 Carnival. The song warned of the risks of climbing utility poles, making illegal connections, and throwing streamers toward power lines. During the São João festivities, Alceu Valença returned with a new song, this time to warn about the risks posed by the power grid during the celebrations—such as when releasing balloons. In addition to appearances at electric trio parades, street parties, and June festivities, the campaign included radio, digital and print media, a music video, and social media activations.
This recognition builds on Neoenergia’s strategy of using music and Brazilian culture to expand the reach of safety messages. In 2025, the company won the national Aberje Award in the same category for “Energia é folia,” a campaign starring Carlinhos Brown to promote safety around the power grid during the festivities.
Promoting Women’s Sports
In the Diversity and Inclusion category, the award-winning project was “Believe in Your Energy: Strengthening Women’s Sports and Inspiring Future Generations.” The campaign brought together ambassadors from Team Neoenergia and amateur athletes to highlight the presence of women in sports and encourage confidence in their own potential.
Among the participants are Olympic medalists Bia Souza (judo) and Ana Marcela (open-water swimming), as well as Rayane Soares (Paralympic track and field); Celine Bispo (swimming); Antonia Silva (soccer); Mirelle Leite (track and field); Bruna Kajiya, in kitesurfing; Tota Magalhães, in cycling; and Juliana Duque, in sailing. The campaign brings together different sports, generations, regions, and life stories, broadening representation in sports. Among the stories shared is that of swimmer Fabienne Guttin, who, at age 70, swims more than 5,000 meters in the pool, reinforcing the message that energy has no age limit and no single path.
Energy Transition in Fernando de Noronha
In the Event category, Neoenergia earned recognition for the launch ceremony of “Mais por Noronha,” held in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago in November 2025, on the eve of COP30, to mark the start of construction on the Noronha Verde Solar Power Plant. The event, attended by key Brazilian and international officials, set the goal of making Noronha the first inhabited oceanic island in Latin America to achieve decarbonization.
Announced with an investment of R$ 350 million, the project calls for the installation of more than 30,000 solar panels integrated with battery storage systems. Other highlights of the initiative include the implementation of the first floating solar power plant in the state of Pernambuco, installed at the Xaréu Reservoir through the Energy Efficiency Program regulated by ANEEL; the provision of charging stations for electric cars and bicycles; and the replacement of meters in the island’s power grid with smart meters, enabling greater control over consumption and management of the electrical system.
