Neoenergia wins Ibero-American Quality Award for the performance of its distributors
The recognition reaffirms the standard of excellence of the group's companies, which had already stood out in 2025 by winning the Abradee Award - the most important award in Brazil's energy distribution sector
Committed to offering quality service to customers in all the regions where it operates, Neoenergia received the Ibero-American Quality Award on Thursday (29) in Madrid, Spain. The company was recognized with the highest distinction, in the Gold category, for the work carried out by the group's five distributors: Neoenergia Coelba (BA), Neoenergia Cosern (RN), Neoenergia Elektro (SP and MS), Neoenergia Brasília (DF) and Neoenergia Pernambuco. In total, 17 million customers are served, which represents a population of 40 million people.
This is the first time in the 26 editions of the Ibero-American Quality Award that a group of companies has been honored: Neoenergia was awarded together with its five distributors. In addition, the company achieved the highest score in history and is the largest organization ever to be recognized for the honor. In total, the company has more than 16,000 employees.
"Quality is an essential value for Neoenergia, because it means delivering excellent service to our customers. In 2025, this commitment was recognized in the Abradee Award (Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors), which chose two of our distributors as the best in Brazil, totaling eight trophies. This is the sector's main recognition in the country. Now, with this international award, we are celebrating yet another achievement that reinforces the commitment and dedication of our teams to offering ever better service to our more than 17 million customers," said Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia, who received the award in Madrid.
The award and FUNDIBEQ
The Ibero-American Quality Award was created in 1999 and is the highest distinction in organizational management awarded in Ibero-America. It recognizes public and private organizations based on the block model of management excellence.
The award is linked to the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, which in turn is coordinated by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), which represents the governments of 22 countries in the region. The institution is managed by FUNDIBEQ (Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management), which is responsible for the technical administration, methodology and coordination of the international network of evaluators in 17 countries.
To take part, you must have won a national quality award or received relevant international recognition. By last year, 248 organizations had already been recognized.
In addition to the 2026 achievement, Iberdrola, Neoenergia's parent company, has a special relationship with FUNDIBEQ: the company took part in setting up the foundation in 1998, along with other public and private companies from countries such as Peru, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela.
Iberdrola has also acted as a sponsor and member of the foundation's board, contributing to the development and dissemination of the Ibero-American model of excellence in management.
Iberdrola Mexico recognized for its support of women's sport
Iberdrola Mexico also received the Gold Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from DestElla, a social program that promotes the development and empowerment of girls and women through sport. The prize is awarded by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and FUNDIBEQ to projects that make an exceptional contribution to the SDGs and the United Nations 2030 Agenda. In Brazil, Neoenergia is recognized in the energy sector as the company that most supports women's sport in Brazil. Of particular note is its support for Team Neoenergia, which already has eight athletes in different sports: Bia Souza (judo); Ana Marcela (open water); Antonia Silva (soccer); Rayane Soares (paralympic athletics); Ana Vitória Magalhães, Tota (cycling); Bruna Kajiya (kitesurfing); Mirelle Leite (athletics); and Celine Bispo (swimming).
Neoenergia's other achievements
Iberdrola and Neoenergia have already participated in the Ibero-American Quality Award in other editions. In 2014 and 2016, Neoenergia Elektro was awarded in the Gold category. In 2019 and 2021, Iberdrola Mexico won the silver category. In 2024, Iberdrola Mexico also won the Gold category.
