Neoenergia speeds up delivery and starts operation of transmission line in Mato Grosso do Sul

1/7/21

With 19 months ahead of the contract term set by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), Neoenergia has just started the commercial operation of the third stretch of the transmission line acquired by the company in lot 4 of the 005/2016 auction, held by the regulatory agency in April 2017. The new stage completed has a voltage of 230 kV and connects Nova Porto Primavera substation, in São Paulo, to Ivinhema, in Mato Grosso do Sul.

"With the start-up of the commercial operation of the third of the project's five stretches, we delivered 360.5 kilometers of lines in 2020 and reached 52% of the RAP (Annual Allowed Revenue) of the lot and 62.47% of the length of lines planned for this project. We have advanced with all our projects, meeting the commitments we have made to our investors and contributing to the development of the Brazilian electricity sector", states Neoenergia's Transmission Officer, Luís Alves.

The transmission line delivered aims to strengthen the system in Mato Grosso do Sul, improving reliability and assisting in the energy exchange between the Southeast/Midwest and South regions. The stretch between Nova Porto Primavera and Ivinhema substations has 64.5 kilometers of lines and the project has included the connection bays on both assets. The stretch features 147 towers, and one of them is assembled inside Paraná river.

In total, the project in Mato Grosso do Sul comprises 578 kilometers of transmission lines, as well as the construction of a new 230/138kV substation and the expansion of six 230kV substations. The first stretch, 147 kilometers-long, between Nova Porto Primavera e Rio Brilhante substations, started-up the commercial operation in July, 25 months before the term set by the regulatory agency. In early December, the largest stretch of the project was energized, covering 149 kilometers, connecting the cities of Rio Brilhante and Campo Grande. The two remaining stage are under construction.

Neoenergia owns further seven Transmission Lots under construction and six in operation. In December, the company acquired lot 2 at 001/2020 auction held by Aneel, a longer project - amounting to 1,091 km
