Neoenergia leads the energy sector and ranks among Brazil’s top-rated companies in sustainability, according to Kantar
The company is the only one in the country's energy sector to achieve "Leader" status in BrandSustainability 2026, based on customer perceptions of its social inclusion and energy transition initiatives
Neoenergia, part of the Spanish group Iberdrola, ranks among the highest-rated companies in Brazil on BrandSustainability 2026, a global brand sustainability index conducted by the consulting firm Kantar. The company ranked second overall in the country and stood out as the only one in the energy sector to achieve Leader status.
The survey assesses the perceptions of 1,500 consumers regarding the social and environmental practices of 2,160 brands across 12 countries. In Brazil, the study analyzed the performance of 180 companies and identified those most successful at transforming sustainability into trust and brand value in the eyes of customers. Neoenergia serves more than 17 million customers—equivalent to a population of 40 million people—in six states: Bahia (Neoenergia Coelba), Pernambuco (Neoenergia Pernambuco), Rio Grande do Norte (Neoenergia Cosern), São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul (Neoenergia Elektro), as well as the federal capital, through Neoenergia Brasília.
“This recognition reflects our conviction that the transition to a low-carbon economy must occur in a way that is integrated with social development and the reality of the communities where we operate. The fact that customers perceive our initiatives as legitimate and high-impact shows that expanding energy efficiency programs and promoting inclusion and equal opportunities is the right path,” says Neoenergia CEO Eduardo Capelastegui.
Actions that drive leadership in sustainability
Neoenergia’s recognition is a direct result of initiatives that bring sustainability closer to the real lives of Brazilians. One of them is the School of Electricians for Women. This initiative, a pioneer in the electricity sector and internationally recognized by the World Economic Forum, offers free professional training and creates opportunities for women to enter a historically male-dominated labor market. Since the project’s launch, approximately 1,300 women have been trained as electricians, and more than 1,000 have joined Neoenergia’s workforce.
With the goal of bringing discussions about sustainability into customers’ daily lives, Neoenergia also promotes the Vale Luz Program. The initiative allows customers to exchange recyclable solid waste for discounts on their electricity bills. The program encourages recycling and proper waste disposal, generating economic benefits for families and promoting environmental awareness. Last year, Vale Luz provided discounts totaling approximately R$ 1.6 million on the electricity bills of about 15,000 consumers and sent 2,500 tons of waste for recycling.
The rational use of resources is also a commitment of Neoenergia. Among its energy efficiency initiatives, the company replaced more than 480,000 light bulbs with LED technology in 2025 in low-income households and in public and charitable institutions. This measure reduces energy consumption, improves the efficiency of the electrical system, and lowers electricity bills for families in socially vulnerable situations.
