The company's new cycle of investments in distribution in the country will reach R$50 billion between 2026-2030;

For the Far West region of Bahia, investments will enable the delivery of 25 new or expanded substations, with a 93% increase in the region's energy capacity;

The announcement took place during the Bahia Farm Show, with the participation of Iberdrola's CEO, Ignacio Galán, as well as the vice-president of Brazil, the ministers of Mines and Energy and Agriculture and Livestock, and the governor of Bahia.

Neoenergia, through Neoenergia Coelba, will invest around R$25 billion by 2030 in the expansion, modernization and reinforcement of Bahia's electricity distribution infrastructure. Of this total, the Far West of Bahia - the main agricultural hub in the Northeast and the largest center-pivot irrigation region in Brazil - will concentrate a record volume of resources, which will make it possible to almost double the local energy capacity and boost Brazilian agribusiness.

The contribution is part of Neoenergia's R$50 billion plan for energy distribution in Brazil between 2026 and 2030 and aims to increase energy security, supply quality and service capacity for the company's more than 17 million customers in the country. In the last four years, the company has led private investment in infrastructure in Brazil, according to the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industries (Abdib).

The announcement was made during the Bahia Farm Show, the largest agribusiness fair in the North and Northeast, in the presence of authorities, industry leaders and Iberdrola's CEO, Ignacio Galán. The executive is following the company's strategic agenda in Brazil and the progress of investments in regions with a strong productive vocation. Made up of 24 municipalities, the Far West of Bahia is responsible for around 11% of Bahia's GDP, helping to make the state the largest agricultural producer in the North and Northeast.

"Electricity is a true engine of development.By expanding and modernizing our networks, we are creating the conditions for the country and Brazilian agribusiness to continue growing in a more sustainable, competitive and integrated way into the future of electrification, with the state of Bahia as the protagonist," said Ignacio Galán during a speech at the opening of the event alongside the vice-president of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, the ministers of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and Agriculture and Livestock, André de Paula, the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, and the CEO of Neoenergia, Eduardo Capelastegui.

Almost double the energy capacity

The new investment cycle for the Far West includes the construction of 10 new substations in the region, the expansion of the power of another 15 and the installation of approximately 3,900 kilometers of electricity grid. The works will add more than 822 MVA of power to the system, which represents a 93% increase in installed capacity compared to the current scenario, expanding service to urban consumers, agro-industry and the social and productive inclusion of small producers.

Among the projects planned are the new Luís Eduardo Magalhães and Rosário substations, which are considered strategic for strengthening the region's electricity grid. The Luís Eduardo Magalhães substation, which will be delivered this week, is expected to serve more than 53,000 consumers in the municipality, while the Rosário substation will reinforce the supply to Correntina's rural loads, especially in the Rosário district, one of the state's main agricultural hubs.

Consistent track record of investments in the region

Neoenergia Coelba has made progress in keeping up with the growth of the Far West of Bahia. In the last two years, the company has made investments that have enabled the construction and energization of seven new substations, the expansion of five others and the installation of more than 1,700 kilometers of high and medium voltage lines, increasing the system's capacity and supporting the expansion of productive activities in the region.
