A Story of Trust Between Father and Daughter

Imagine a company that has been part of a family’s history for more than two decades, accompanying them through important moments in life and, years later, also opening its doors to a daughter’s first professional opportunity. This is the story of Joabe Lyra and Nicolle, a father and daughter who found in Neoenergia more than just a place to work: a space for learning, growth, and building dreams.

Joabe’s career at Neoenergia Cosern began 25 years ago through a staffing agency. Since then, he has been hired by the company, worked in various departments, taken on new challenges, and currently serves as a Specialist Technician in Revenue Management.

Over the years, his work has allowed Joabe to build a life for his family and provide opportunities for his daughters. “One of my biggest dreams was to be able to provide my family with everything they needed. After so many years, I still get emotional when I think about the changes we’ve been able to experience. Being able to provide my daughters with a good education and have benefits like an excellent health plan made all the difference, says Joabe.

Nicolle grew up witnessing this journey. As a child, she didn’t fully understand what her father did, but she knew he worked to help people. “I grew up seeing the commitment, the dedication, and, above all, the effort he put in every day for our family. When the power came back on and people celebrated, I was sure my dad had helped save the world,” she recalls.

Some time later, at age 17, while still in high school, Nicolle began her own journey at Neoenergia Cosern as a young apprentice in Internal Communications. After two years as an apprentice, a new opportunity arose as a technical intern in the Innovation Lab, where she has been working for about 12 months.

Today, at age 20, she has completed a technical program in Environmental Control and is currently studying Electrical Engineering, as well as Production Engineering, at UFRN.

For Nicolle, the company that supported her father’s career has also become an integral part of building her own future. “Neoenergia played a key role in this journey. The experiences I’ve had here have helped me grow both professionally and personally and have opened my eyes to new possibilities for my career.”

For Joabe, seeing his daughter follow in his footsteps is a source of pride . “Neoenergia is a guiding light in my life and in my family’s life. My daughter started as an apprentice, then became an intern, and we hope that soon she’ll become an engineer at Neoenergia Cosern.”

More than just sharing the same workplace, father and daughter share values instilled at home. For Nicolle, the greatest legacy Joabe has left her is the example he sets.

“Today I have a better understanding of what lay behind that routine. By facing challenges and working with dedication, he helped create opportunities for our family, Nicolle points out.

Joabe and Nicolle’s story shows that some legacies are built day by day. And that, often, the best path a father can leave for his daughter is the example of what dedication, hard work, and perseverance can achieve.

What father isn’t proud to show his workplace to a child who’s still in his early years? To show what his day-to-day life is like, the activities he does, and all the tools he uses to carry out his daily tasks—especially when that workplace is located in the middle of an ecological paradise.

Employee Rodrigo Perlingeiro, who is the Operations & Maintenance Manager for the Wind Farms in Rio Grande do Norte, had this opportunity. He showed his 8-year-old son, Pedro, the Rio do Fogo wind farm—Neoenergia’s first, which has been in operation since 2006.

“It was a memorable experience that will stay with him forever,” he recalls. The project has 62 wind turbines, each 75 meters tall, and generates clean energy for thousands of people.

According to Rodrigo, the visit sparked a desire in his young son to work there. “He was thrilled—it was a burst of joy for him to see a wind turbine up close. Now he always says he wants to work at a wind farm,” says his proud father.

Rodrigo has been with Neoenergia since 2017 and has extensive experience as an engineer on the company’s projects. He has worked on hydroelectric and thermal power plants, as well as wind and solar assets. Following this career path, he took on the role of manager of the wind farms in Rio Grande do Norte, a new professional opportunity. “Leading people is a major challenge, but also a valuable opportunity for growth.”

Whether at work or at home, Rodrigo strives to fulfill both roles with great love, dedication, and responsibility. For his son Pedro, he is committed to teaching the importance of honesty, responsibility, and caring for the world around us.

“I want him to grow up knowing that he can make a difference, even through small gestures. I want him to know that he was raised with respect, affection, and the freedom to dream big,she says.

Soon, Rodrigo will welcome another blessing into his life: the birth of his daughter Laura, due in November. And it is in this spirit of renewal, love, and protection that the executive will celebrate Father’s Day with his family.

“I hope that every father recognizes himself as a source of strength, affection, and presence. May we never underestimate the power of a hug, of listening attentively, or of saying, ‘I’m here.’ Being a father is more than just providing; it’s about inspiring, welcoming, and growing together. May we leave our children not only memories, but values that will sustain them when we’re far away. May the love we give today become the courage they’ll have tomorrow. Happy Father’s Day!”
