Mirelle Leite is a runner from Pernambuco who is getting closer to fulfilling a great dream: becoming the first indigenous Brazilian athlete to represent the country at the Olympic Games.
A native of the Xukuru indigenous reserve in Pernambuco, the athlete is a two-time South American under-23 champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and shone at the 2025 Brazil Half-Fund and Fund Cup, winning two gold medals.
For the young indigenous woman, the possibility of reaching the Olympic Games represents an important milestone in expanding the social inclusion of native peoples in Brazil.

Sneakers, sneakers, a raincoat, a watch, heavy items and a notebook.Do you play another sport? Which sport?
I don't do any other sport, but I like to do Pilates in my spare time.
Do you have any hobbies?
I like to cook, especially fit recipes.
Do you have any superstitions before a race?
I try to mentalize my race, make calculations so that I don't make a mistake every lap. I always try to stay focused without letting my mind wander.
How did sport come into your life?
It was a way of helping my family and my brothers. I ended up falling in love with running and went on to achieve many results and national and international titles.
