When he founded the Africores popular school in Natal (RN), Miguel Carcará wanted to bring Brazilian culture and the traditions of his own community to children and teenagers, using hip hop as a tool for connection and learning. With the support of the Neoenergia Institute, the project expanded and the story of the rapper and educator became the subject of the first episode of the second season of "Our Voices", which is available on the Neoenergia Institute website.

"My desire is to give visibility to the work of artists who represent their communities, so that they have a solid professional structure and suffer less than we did," says Miguel Carcará, who added to his surname the nickname he got as a teenager for the bird known for its grandeur and common in the northeastern hinterland. Africores is located in the Redinha neighborhood, in the northern part of Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, where Neoenergia serves around 1.6 million customers through the Neoenergia Cosern distributor.

"Our Voices" is a multimedia project by the Neoenergia Institute, in partnership with Escola de Notícias, an information and communication technology social business aimed at young people that has also been supported by the institution, through the ImpactôSocial Acceleration Program .

"The idea is to engage people in a sensitive way, with inspiring stories from those at the forefront of the projects. The videos, texts and photos reinforce the importance of private social investment by revealing the trajectory of leaders who are transforming reality in their communities, whether through cultural, environmental or social projects," says Renata Chagas, CEO of the Neoenergia Institute.

Our Voices" will feature six characters who are dedicated to social development in various Brazilian regions and who benefit from the Neoenergia Institute. The episodes will be shown every Thursday. The first season's content is also available on the platform.
