​CEO of Neoenergia, Mario Ruiz-Tagle signed on Thursday (29) an agreement to sponsor the company to the Transforma Brasil Movement, in another relevant action of the company to promote volunteering in the country. The signature is part of the celebrations of Neoenergia in the National Volunteer Week.

Transforma Brasil encourages the engagement and mobilization of society, companies and institutions, whose vision is to transform the country through the promotion of volunteering. Its action is to connect those who need help with those who want to collaborate and do not know how.

Neoenergia's support will allow Transforma Brasil to expand its presence in the country and its network of NGOs and people interested in volunteering - whose day was celebrated yesterday (29). Currently, the platform has a support network of over 2,000 institutions, companies, churches, artists.

“Neoenergia's Human Resources policy encourages volunteering as much as possible, which improves the internal climate, personal development and collaborative activity. It is an important value for our company and our controller, Iberdrola. This new partnership will open more opportunities for our employees to engage in more voluntary action. ", stressed Mario Ruiz-Tagle, CEO of Neoenergia.​

Ruiz-Tagle also points out that, more than an agreement between institutions, it is an adherence to the cause. And, according to the executive, the partnership between Neoenergia and Transforma Brasil will be a two-way street: the company arrives to add to the movement through the engagement of its employees and various internal volunteering initiatives already in place. This not only contributes to the expansion of Transforma Brasil volunteers, whose challenge is to increase from 500 thousand volunteers this year to 5 million in 2022, but also to expand the number of projects served.

The president of Porto Social and founder of Transforma Brazil, Fabio Silva, stressed that the agreement is very representative for the movement. “Neoenergia is our first national supporter and fits perfectly with our philosophy of seeking partners who have volunteering as a value and culture", says Silva.​

VOLUNTEERING IN NEOENERGY

The Neoenergia Volunteering Program, in addition to stimulating the individual development of employees, is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One of the initiatives aims to bring schools and communities from Bahia (Coelba concession area) and Pernambuco (Celpe), Rio Grande do Norte (Cosern), Rio de Janeiro (Neoenergia headquarters), São Paulo and Mato Grosso (Elektro) the awareness of children and teenagers about the effects of global warming on the planet, with theoretical and didactic material to carry out the activities, which are supported by company employees.

Another important action is the engagement in Iberdrola International Volunteer Day, that takes place globally in September, in which employees take part in various actions related to the environment, production, consumption and sustainable communities, with a social focus. In Brazil, this action will take place on September 28 in 14 cities of six states where Neoenergia operates.​
