GHG Inventory

The document helps identify the strategies and actions needed to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory is part of a series of measures implemented by Neoenergia to combat climate change. The company believes that everyone must commit to this fight, and therefore its business strategy is geared toward accelerating the energy transition toward climate neutrality by offering a clean, reliable, and smart business model. The company views the climate agenda as an opportunity to expand its portfolio while also recognizing the need to build climate resilience.

The preparation of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory allows the company to know its emissions profile in detail, allowing adequate planning for the decarbonization of its activities, greater transparency with stakeholders, greater credibility in the environmental management of its assets, identification of opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, recognizing the impact of its efforts in the fight against climate change and support for the monitoring of its climate commitments.
The survey, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, covers Neoenergia’s power generation from renewable sources (wind and hydroelectric), deregulated sources (thermal), and grid operations (transmission and distribution) for its operating projects.

Sustainable Development Goals

The electricity sector plays a key role in achieving the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting the rise in global temperature to less than 2°C by the end of the century and focusing efforts on limiting it to a maximum of 1.5°C. Neoenergia is fully aligned with this goal and addresses the fight against climate change in its business strategy through its Climate Change Policy and its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 13 (Climate Action).

The company views climate change not only as a risk factor but also as an opportunity to be seized through mitigation and adaptation measures during the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.

The diversification of the company’s generation assets—combining hydro, wind, solar, and thermal sources—enables it to better manage the risks associated with climate variations. The group is positioned to capitalize on these opportunities thanks to its leading role in renewable energy, smart grids, storage, and digitalization.
