NEOENERGIA CO-SIGNS THE BELO MONTE CONCESSION CONTRACT

Representing the company Bolzano S.A., controlled by Neoenergia and shareholder of the specific purpose company Norte Energia S.A., Neoenergia¿s president, Marcelo Corrêa, co-signed today (26/08/2010) the concession contract for the construction of the Belo Monte hydroelectric power plant (UHE), with 11,233 megawatts (MW) on the Xingu river, in the state of Para. The ceremony took place at the Palácio do Planalto and was attended by the President of the Republic, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as by authorities of the Electrical Energy sector and representatives of the company¿s shareholders.

During a 35 year period, the public asset concession contract for the generation of electric energy will govern the exploitation of the hydraulic energy potential located on the Xingu river, named Belo Monte Hydroelectrical power plant, as well as of the respective transmission installations of interest restricted to the hydroelectrical power plant. The power generation plant will begin construction next year and the conclusion of the works is forecast for 2015.

Norte Energia is formed by 18 companies, the main shareholders being Eletrobras, Chesf and Eletronorte. The distribution of shares is as follows: (i) Bolzano Participações S.A., controlled by Neoenergia S.A: 10%; (ii) Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A.: 15%; (iii) Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco: 15%; (iv) Centrais Elétricas do Norte do Brasil S.A.: 19.98%; (v) Fundação Petrobras de Seguridade Social: 10%; (vi) Fundação dos Economiários Federais: 2.5%; (vii) Caixa Fundo de Investimento em Participações Cevix: 5%; (viii) J. Malucelli Energia S.A.: 0.25%; (ix) Gaia Energia e Participações S.A.: 9% (nine percent); (x) Siderúrgica Norte Brasil S.A.: 1%; (xi) Construtora Queiroz Galvão S.A.: 2.51%; (xii) Construtora OAS Ltda: 2.1%; (xiii) Contern Construções e Comércio Ltda: 1.25%; (xiv) Cetenco Engenharia S.A.: 1.25; (xv) Galvão Engenharia S.A.: 1.25%; (xvi) J. Malucelli Construtora de Obras S.A.: 1%; (xvii) Mendes Júnior Trading e Engenharia S.A.: 1.25%; e (xviii) Serveng-Civilsan S.A. Empresas Associadas de Engenharia: 1.25%.
