COMPANHIA HIDRELÉTRICA TELES PIRES SIGNS AN EPC CONTRACT FOR PLANT CONSTRUCTION

Companhia Hidrelétrica Teles Pires S/A, Special Purpose Company (SPC) made by Neoenergia (50.1%), Eletrobras Eletrosul (24.5%), Eletrobras Furnas (24.5%) and Odebrecht Participações e Investimentos (0.9%), signed, on August 22, 2011, the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for the construction of Teles Pires Hydropower Plant, with 1,820 megawatts (MW), on the border between the countries of Mato Grosso and Pará.
The EPC contract was executed with Teles Pires Construction Consortium (CCTP), made by the companies Odebrecht Energia, Voith and Alston, with the duration of 48 months, and termination expected to August 2015. The contract, in the amount of R$ 3.3 billion, comprises the supply of goods, engineering, and construction services.
The execution of the EPC of Teles Pires HPP occurred at the headquarters of Neoenergia, in Rio de Janeiro, and was attended by representatives from Companhia Hidrelétrica Teles Pires S/A and Teles Pires Construction Consortium.
Teles Pires HPP received the Installation License from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) on August, 19. The concession was won by CHTP¿s shareholders during an auction of Aneel held in December 2010 and will receive total investments of R$ 3.6 billion.
