The Neoenergia Group has accumulated investments in Brazil in the order of R$ 16.6 billion in nominal terms since its establishment in 1997. These investments are distributed among company acquisitions in privatization auctions, stock purchases, capital increases and investments in the controlled companies of distribution and generation.

In 2004 Neoenergia adopted a new model of Corporate Governance that optimized the costs, standardized the processes and brought more operational efficiency to the Group. The improvement in the macroeconomic scenario has also contributed for the Company to achieve better results, both by the growth of energy demand and the reduction of financial costs.

On 03/24/2010 Neoenergia achieved the investment grade, thus becoming the first private holding of the Brazilian electric industry to receive such appraisal by the rating agency Standard&Poors, with a rating of BBB- in Global Scale and brAAA in National Scale. The investment grade was granted to the holding NEOENERGIA and the controlled COELBA and COSERN, while CELPE had its classification raised in two positions, to BB+ in Global Scale and br AA+ in the Brazilian National Scale, clearly seeking to achieve the same recognition level. This quality seal recognizes the work of the NEOENERGIA Group and adds value to the entire Brazilian electric industry.
