Coelba - Companhia de Eletricidade do Estado da Bahia - serves around 4.5 million clients who demanded more than 12,908 GWh in 2008, brands that warrant the first position among the energy distribution companies of the Northeast. In 2008, Coelba obtained a Net Profit of R$ 814.8 million and EBITDA of R$ 1.22 billion, representing 47% of the cash generation of the Neoenergia Group.

The company was founded in March of 1960 and privatized on July 31, 1997, becoming the first acquisition of the Neoenergia Group, whose present participation in the total shares of the company is of 87.84%.

Coelba invests heavily to meet its commitment with the quality of the services and the expansion of the access to electric energy in the state of Bahia. Only in 2008, they invested R$ 631 million, being R$ 333.2 million directed at the connection of some 82 thousand new units in the rural area through program Luz Para Todos. Bahia is the Brazilian state that will receive the largest investment for the program, done in partnership with the Federal Government.
