Celpe

The concession area of Companhia de Eletricidade de Pernambuco - CELPE - covers a range of 102,745 km², with around 2.9 million consumers, whose demand in the year of 2008 was 9,103 GWh. The company is the second largest concessionaire of electric energy distribution services in the Northeast, with around 16.4% of participation in this market. In 2008, Celpe had a Net Profit of R$ 466.3 million and EBITDA of R$ 691.7 million, representing 27% of the cash generation of the Neoenergia Group.

The company was founded on February 10, 1965, as a mixed economy corporation and with the shareholding control of the State Government of Pernambuco. On February 17, 2000, Celpe was privatized, being acquired by Neoenergia, whose present participation in the total shares of the company is of 89.65%.

Largest private investor in Pernambuco, Celpe works to keep the efficiency levels that place it among the best energy distributors in Brazil. In 2008, Celpe's total investment was of R$ 372.0 million.
