Termope

Termopernambuco thermoelectric power plant (UTE Termope) is a 100% Neoenergia project. The power plant has 3 turbines in a combined cycle system, being two of natural gas and one of steam. The contracted electric power is of 455 MW average, commercialized via electric power sales contracts for two distributors of Grupo Neoenergia for a period of 20 years. CELPE (390 MW average) and COELBA (65 MW average).

UTE Termope construction started in 2001, as a project inserted in Thermoelectricity Priority Program (PPT) of the Federal Government. Nearly US $400 million were invested, being 30% of own capital and 70% of third parties capital. The power plant started commercial operation on May 15, 2004, when the gas supply contract with Copergás and Petrobras became effective, with a volume of 2.150.000 m³ per day, with a validity term of 20 years.

In 2008, Termope generated a net profit of R$ 40.6 million and EBITDA of R$ 168.8 million, 9% of Grupo Neoenergia cash flow generation.

In July 2006, Termope acquired Certificate ISO 14001:2004 for its Environment Management System (SGA), becoming the second natural gas thermoelectric power plant in Brazil to obtain such certification, which was renewed in 2007 and 2008.
