Itapebi

Itapebi Hydroelectric Power Plant has three generating units of 150 MW each, and ensured energy of 1.877.268 MWh/year contracted until 2017 by Bahia State Electricity Company (COELBA). In 2008, Itapebi generated a liquid profit of R$ 109.3 million and EBITDA of R$ 189.6 million, 7% of Grupo Neoenergia cash generation.

UHE construction started in 1999, on the Jequitinhonha River on the boundary of Bahia and Minas Gerais states, with an investment of R$ 550 million, being 30% financed with own resources and 70% of third-party resources. The hydroelectric started its operation in February 2003.

With 42% of shares, Neoenergia has the control of Itapebi Geração de Energia. The shareholders of Grupo Neoenergia also have direct participation in this project.

To the UHE Itapebi efficiency and productivity respect to society, to its collaborators and to the environment is added. Taking into account that, in 2008, the company acquired the certification for its Environment, Health and Safety integrated management system, respectively in standards ISO 14.001 and OHSAS 18001.
