The Neoenergia Group adopts a model of socially and environmentally responsible model in all of its activities, built permanently in the relation of its companies with its different types of public, aiming at the creation of value for the business and the construction of a sustainable society. The Group inserts social and environmental responsibility in its strategic planning as macrostrategy, defining corporate processes and objectives that reaffirm this practice as element of organizational identity and culture.
The investments of the Group in social projects have exceeded, in 2007, the amount of R$ 400 million, according to the Neoenergia Social Balance Sheet model Ibase*, there including the funds invested in the programs, Luz para Todos ande Luz no Campo, dedicados dedicated to the universalization of the access to electric energy. Investments in projects of energetic efficiency and income generation, developed to provide sustainability to the consumption of these new electrified regions, constitute the main expression of a business strategy focused on sustainable development.
At the beginning of 2008, the social-environmental policy of Neoenergia won an important recognition: the program of distributor Coelba, which donates efficient refrigerators to low-income clients and re-uses gas CFC-R12 removed from old refrigerators was classified as exemplary by Montreal Protocol - international agreement of countries for the protection of the ozone layer in the atmosphere.
